  • Wireless Hotspot in a box

    Here's an interesting idea.

    Linksys WRV54G.

For anyone who lives in a crowded downtown area, this may be a way to make a little extra cash.

Unfortunately, if you want a private wireless network as well, you'll need a second wireless access point for that.

interesting. But also generally not allowed by your ISP's TOS.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

If you've got a T1 or a business inet connection you can.

My bro is going to open a computer gaming store. I've been trying to talk him into a WiFi lounge for parents to do crap while their kids play, but he doesn't think it's a good idea.

With a good firewall it would be cool. Block outgoing mail (to prevent spammers from using the place), maybe block sites you don't want the kids to see....

Then again, maybe your brother is right. If the kids are in the store, I'd rather have the parents supervise them.

Practically everywhere downtown. There are so many unsecured APs around town, you're never far from one. As for intentionally free hotspots (not just some shmoe who forgot to turn on WEP ), I've only used one in the hotel that's attached to the Eaton Centre (can't remember which hotel it is, maybe sheraton?).

If you have a wireless card in your laptop, I am sure you can find somewhere for free just in your own subdivision
