  • ADSL In Paris

    Hi all,

Our boss at work is having problems with his ADSL in France, and I think that it's the settings to do with the VCI/VPI etc settings. I know they use PPPoE not PPPoA like we do here, but just wondering what else could be different. Anyone any ideas?

He uses Wanadoo on a France Telecom line.

    Cheers,
    Steve

I agree that the problem could well be incorrect VCI/VPI values

what type of modem does he use?

i use wanadoo, on a netgear modem/router and have no problems at all, and i'm in the sticks west of paris.

if hes in centre, he should have no problems. it could be his modem.

and my ADSL router says it uses PPPOA as DHCP on the adsl port.

It's the Netgear 54Mb Wireless Router. Thanks for those settings - that exactly what I want. Glad to know netgear stuff works too

I had problems with my wanadoo green 'manta ray' modem USB version.
The driver has to be updated to prevent lots of downtime, due to wandis5.sys or something (threw out peice of paper with name written on) and the new driver is fully stable. but your still depending on the computer to hold the line. i went for a fully external modem/router, which i plug in and it keeps the internt connection open on 4 dhcp ethernet ports. very simple, and i don't get hassled when the internet is down or slow, cos its never down or slow anymore

Pretty useless if you can't connect.

My router is 1.03.0 and 1.00.09. Not that it matters too much at this point seeing as Careless and Worthless (Cable and Wireless the Telco and ISP) have not activated my freakin DSL although it was ordered in March.
