We don't have an IE bugs thread, my personal opinion is, if we did, it would soon overtake Zok's game thread in size
I agree with that! Maybe we should start an OS annoyance thread as well, for each of the Operating Systems that are used by MURCers. WinXP, Linux, BSD comes to mind.. though there are several BSD's, not sure which ones are in use here...

I noticed this as well (that Firefox runs faster under linux) I'll give Opera a try this weekend under linux and windows and see if I notice a difference there as well. Haven't tried Opera in a while...

Few things:
- I can't drag the main toolbar or buttons from it to the menu bar, like I can in Firefox or IE.
- I downloaded the non-Java edition and hit Y! games to see if it would pick up JRE that I have installed. It worked, but I can't drag game room Java applet to another monitor outside opera Window.
- Speed - pages load as fast as Firefox (they finish loading page at about the same time, although Opera shows text slightly sooner. What I like is instant back.
- Find as you type - is there anything like this in Opera?
- Popup windows in Opera are enabled by default - this is bad.

Like I already wrote to Isochar: This is possible. Hit ctrl+f11 to hide the menu bar. <a href="opera:/button/Show%20popup%20menu,%20%22Browser%20Menu%20Bar%22" >here</a> is a menu button (I prefer it this small, there are also separate buttons for each menu and even each command), and here are some window control buttons: <a href="opera:/button/Minimize%20page,,,,%20Caption%20Minimize">minimize </a>, <a href="opera:/button/Restore%20page,,,,%20Caption%20Restore">restore</a>, and <a href="opera:/button/Close%20page,,,,%20Caption%20Close">close</a>. Put them to the right of the topmost bar and it's like a standard window bar. Now all you have to do is to customize toolbars and disable all the bars you don't want and put all the desired buttons and fields into your main bar. <a href="opera:/button/Show%20popup%20menu,%20%22Internal%20Bookmark%20Fo lder%22,,,%20Panel%20Bookmarks">here</a> is a handy bookmarks dropdown button.

No, but you can drag the game window out of Opera, or into another Opera window (just drag the tab on the tastkbar to drag it outside of Opera, or use the windows panel reintegrate it and to move any tab from and to any Opera window, or outside of them)
- Speed - pages load as fast as Firefox (they finish loading page at about the same time, although Opera shows text slightly sooner. What I like is instant back.
You can tune connection and cache in Preferences (Alt+P) -> Network and Preferences -> History and Cache.
- Find as you type - is there anything like this in Opera?
Yes. Hit . or numblock / to find text and , or shift + numblock / to find links. F3 to show next found word, shift+F3 for previous. Hit ctrl-b for the keyboard help page, configure keyboard in Preferences -> Mouse and Keyboard. BTW, shift+cursor keys (not only left and right, but also up and down) moves through all links.
- Popup windows in Opera are enabled by default - this is bad.
It also identifies as IE by default. Hit F12 to correct both
You must edit the search.ini to change searches. Easiest way to do so is use Search.ini editor. BTW, you can search google by just typing "g keyword(s)" into the address or search field, likewise with all the other search engines. You can also customize this. You can find my search.ini at http://www.fieras.de/search.ini (needs to be put into "profiles" folder in c:\settings and blabla\apps\opera\profiles\ when opera is not running).
typing xbitlabs does get my to xbitlabs.com (though after quite a while). You can customize this in Preferences -> Network -> Server Name Completion. Untick "Look for local network machine" to make it a lot faster. Bookmarks can have nicknames, so you'll only have to enter the nickname into the address field to get to a bookmark.
You cannot move the Tab bar below the address bar but you can put the address field and all buttons into another bar. The tab bar ("window bar") is the only one you can't fully customize.

Did you implement those config tweaks for Firefox that I posted?
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
While Opera shows text slightly sooner in some cases, Firefox loads most of the images and the bulk of the page slightly sooner . The progress bar completes at about the same time.
Also in all benchmarks I I gave Opera slight advantage by pressing enter first in opera location bar and then clicking go in Firefox.
I also have TBE which slows firefox down:
Supposedly there are alternatives, but one would need manny alternatives to do the job, although most of the stuff in TBE is not needed for majority of users.
Also one could download or compile optimized Firefox build - official Firefox build is compiled for P6 CPU. Supposedly enabling SSE G7 (in MS Visual Studio) for K7/P4 CPUs also results in improvements.
Overall, I'd say speed is not pointing in either way.
EDIT:
Uppon further testing of loading various popular sites in Firefox, Opera and IE, it appears some pages load faster in particular browser, some even load faster in IE.
