  • slipstreaming question

I just d/l'd XP SP2, and slipstreamed it with my Corporate Ed. following the instructions on the link in the other SP2 thread.

Where the instructions lack detail is the CD labels. Does it actually matter what I put in the Volume Label, System Identifier and Volume Set fields?

    TIA
    FT.

I used same labels that were on the XP CD.

Otherwise, it's best to create unattended install and include winnt.sif generated by answer file utility (found in deploy.cab on XP CD) in CDROM:\I386\ folder.

      Cheers.

Reading around, it seems that you only need to set the volume label, and not everyone thinks the content of that matters.

Indeed, none of the recommended labels for the various versions match that on my original CD!

I got the FCKGW-.... corporate version a week before launch and took it from there (same label).

I slipstreamed SP1 with unattended install answer file, so I guess, the SP2 should not represent a problem.

My rig is down ATM, so I haven't yet tried SP2, this rig is Win2k SP4.
