Had to install .Net 1.1 on all the machines at work. In addition to other slow down problems, this doubled the length of the Calyx Point 4.4 install as apposed to 4.3. Good thing I went in on Saturday instead of Sunday that weekend. My impression is that it is a set of runtime libraries and you can have mutiple versions though right now there are only two. 1.0 SP2 and 1.1. Grr.

There are two driver downlaods one does not need .Net and the other does but comes with Catalyst Control center and is 16.3 MB bigger.

Serenity!!! I finally saw that Firefly show and it kicked some major butt... lousy Fox. Hopefully the movie does well so they have two more movies afterwards!

Why is it that Drivers are getting so freakishly large? Theoretically, isn't that what the standard APIs are for? I mean, you'd think all the video card manufacturers would need to do is have tie-ins with Direct3D and OpenGL and maybe some neat features like TV out, dvd decoding... but why would something like that require 40MB~ of information? 40MB used to be considered a LOT for anything. I remember thinking that Ultima 7 was incredibly huge at 21mb.... now you'll be lucky if a patch is that size... Oh well, I can rant about that all day...

Lack of optimizations? Or just simply a crappy operating system? I'm not sure how big the ATI video drivers for linux are, but the nVidia ones are 7.8MB, which is a decent amount smaller than the 12MB that the windows version is.
