  • Flashlights

I reading my Popluar Mechanics I got in the mail tonight and spotted an ad for Surefire, a maker of flashlights that are mounted to M4/M16A2 for CCB.

I know we had a thread a couple months ago about LED flashlights and I can't seem to find it now, but I wouldnt mind getting something to keep out in the car and to replace my 10 year old 4 D Cell Mag light I have now.

Anyone have any suggestions or websites to check out?
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

Probably head straight to the source.

Surefire's are badass flashlights! (personal experience)

only problem it would have compared to the 4 D Cell MagLight is that the MagLight can be used for personal defense, the Surefire's are too small for that.

the LED flashlights are pretty nifty too - the thread you were looking for is here.

I also recommend checking out www.rei.com and www.supergo.com LED lights are quite popular with the hiking and biking crowds.

I use a Petzl Zipka Plus LED Headlamp for backpacking, but I've found that I use it every single day. We walk the dog at night and its great for walking through unlit areas ... and picking up dog poop. I also use it for hunting around the back of my huge A/V cabinet. You can just throw it in your pocket (doesn't weigh much and its small) and have it ready for stand-alone, hand. wrist, or head use. The Zipka is a very versatile light that is great for hands-free operation.

I might be picking up one of those conversion kits for my AA maglight... it would certainly be nice to have the reliability and brightness of the LED flashlights in the field while still retaining the good ol' maglight form factor...

I'm thinking about getting the conversion kit as well, but the kit costs the same as their entire flashlight set!
