  • Can't POST board, need suggestions

Just got ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe board, mobile Athlon XP 2500, 512MB Geil PC3200 RAM, Powercolor Radeon 9600xt for system. Doesn't boot. I know the processor works with board, several others using it. ASUS support has been crappy. Anyone got suggestions?? Seems like a bad board to me.

Do you get a beep code?
If not, sometimes reseating the cpu or the video card does the trick.

Is the power supply certified for AMD?
    P.S. You've been Spanked!

Power supply is certified. No beeps at all. Will try reseating CPU, tried video already

Reseating CPU didn't work either, any other suggestions?

back to basics, strip all out (including drive connectors) but vid and minimum amount of ram, see what happens

Tried that, no good. Still nothing at all. System is powering up, fans coming on.
CPU, memory, and video all work on other board.

CPU fan stays on? Usually if the CPU fan spins for a split second, that's a dead CPU.

Fan runs fine. Am trying to find out if it is video card. Board needs 1.5V card only, and I think card is 1.5V, but can't find any documentation that says it is.

What happens if you run without the video card? Then you should get beeps. 3 beeps, I think.

do you have the LED light's for Power and HDD connected?

Try starting it once without those.

Probably a dead mobo, had the same problem yesterday, a mate bought a brand new computer and it wouldn't start. We tried the most basic setup (mobo, CPU, Memory, PCI videocard) and it wouldn't start only the cpu fan spinned about a half second no beep even if we removed the videocard we didn't get any beeps.

We even tried another CPU because a dead CPU can cause the same symptoms but nothing helped.

A new mobo fixed the problem.

Tried all suggestions posted, taking board back this morning. Hopefully is the board, if not, I don't know what I'll do.

Thanks to all for attempted help.
