An extremely cool program! I like it! It managed to connect to the server for a magic 15 minutes. It hasn't connected since though...

Damn you, upgrade your servers NASA(or whatever), I could play around with this prog for hours!

learn.arc.nasa.gov is down for emergency maintenance. A hardware failure occurred on Thursday (9-30-2004) due to increased server load.
We are building a new server and expect to be online by Tuesday (10-05-2004). Web pages and forums will be unavailable until then.

can anybody actually make this thing work, it will never connect for me, im just wondering if its through sheer numbers of people using it or because im on a network?

The server that processes the LandSat and SRTM data was taken down after it got slashdotted, they're working on getting funding for better equipment that can handle the load. For now you can go to the forums and download chunks of data that people have posted from their caches. Be sure to download the 1.2c patch first though.

Downloading it now. 260megs or so, but getting reasonable rates from here:
                ftp://geo.arc.nasa.gov/pub/worldwind/

                Looks interesting!
                Problem with World Wind:
Not compatible with Martox G550, leads to a system crash.
                Is there a solution?

                    Hey Y'all,

just so that you know, they released V1.3.3.1

The most important new features for me are that they integrated NASA Blue Marble Next Generation, NRL Realtime weather and ... the Moon

                      NASA World Wind

Well, it downloaded OK but when I try to run it, it freezes my PC rigid. CTRL-ALT-DEL doesn't work and I have to reboot. Could it be my Graphics Card (Matrox Millennium G450 Dual Head 32Mb)???

                          Hi Enak,
Difficult to to say 'cos I can't get it to load!
I like Google Earth although its images, of the UK at least, are way out of date and some regions haven't been covered in any detail.
The M$ Outlook maps are pretty good too.

Probably the G450. At least, the drivers. What drivers are you using?
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
