Sony Ericsson have seriously polished their interface & services and imho they're the phones to have at the moment. However, the S7xx series would not be my choice...yes, it has an amazing camera (the only real camera on a commercial phone, it uses a 1.3MP Sony CCD as opposed to some crappy CMOS sensor), Memory Stick Duo Slot and a great screen...however, it's big and it costs as much as (if not more) than a smartphone, while offering just normal phone options.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Ouch! That is expensive for that device. The P910a is going for $800 USD! Sheesh, yet again, paying more money for the Sony brand name.

Yeah, that's the exact complaint people have had, it's priced way too close to the P910 and only has the camera as a distinct advantage. If you're willing to shell out some cash, you could always try this:

Nokia is an innovative global leader in 5G, networks and phones. See how we create the technology that helps the world act together

WiFi, Bluetooth, memory, nice (landscape) screen...I myself am not a fan of that form-factor and again there's the bulk to consider, but it would fit the bill.

WRT browsing, there will be Opera 7 for Windows Mobile, featuring small screen and medium screen rendering (making webpages readable on small screens without COMPLETELY breaking the layout - hit shift+F11 in your desktop Opera 7 to see small screen rendering in action), there is already Opera 6 for Symbian (preinstalled on Sony P800, P9x0, for instance), Opera 6 will be the standard web app for UIQ 3 (the UI of symbian Smartphones, like the aforementioned Sony types.

Mobile Opera does not include a mailing client, btw, but those are part of symbian/uiq anyway.

I don't know, but since it's still p1 (not even Beta!), I don't think it will be released this month. Sometime this year, I guess

Well, I'm currently waiting of the Nokia 6260 (Symbian smartphone)... As expansion, it uses a RS-MMC card, and it doesn't have a touchscreen or wifi. I do believe Samsung has announced a similar phone with an SDIO slot... (edit: sorry, they had this PalmOs 5 prototype phone which was never released)

Here is an overview of the current and upcoming Symbian models:

I'm slowly upgrading my Siemens S35i + Psion 5mx. First step is the mobile; seeing as there are virtualy no PDAs with proper keybards perhaps later on I'll opt for some subnotebook.

Well, foldable keyboards are quite cheap now and I reckon they'd be better than Psion's (albeit excellent) keyboard.

                            To add another contender:

Portable Innovation Technology Limited (PiTech), the world's first PalmSource-certified original design manufacturer (ODM), and Qool Labs, today introduced a new Palm Powered smartphone, the Qool QDA-700. The Qool QDA-700 is also the first Palm OS smartphone to include a 1.3-megapixel camera.

The Qool QDA-700 is based on the smartphone platform developed by PiTech and built on the Palm OS Garnet operating system. It is a tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900mhz) smartphone targeted at the consumer market.

The Qool QDA-700 comes with rich multimedia features including a 1.3-megapixel camera, a high-resolution, 2.8-inch color QVGA (240x320) display, 32MB or RAM, 802.11 SDIO support, WAV/MP3/MIDI ring tone supportability, MP3 player and MEPG4 video capture and playback capabilities. In addition, the device is bundled with productivity applications such as Documents-to-Go and PalmSource Mail, designed to appeal to prosumer and business customers.

This is a PalmOS device with a non-standard 240x320 screen...I'll bet anything that a lot of apps will have a problem with that.

Not necessarily: some symbian devices have a higher resolution than the standard one, but applications keep running in their native resolution (the added pixels/lines are used to display some status icons). Perhaps there is something similar in the Palm devices...
