VJ, you should definitely wait for the 650 even though the 600 has gotten cheaper...that awful, awful screen is a blemish on an otherwise great design concept.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

I agree the 650 looks wicked.

There is the new orange smart phone coming out. SPV M2000. do a google.
      It's basically a M1000 with a qwerty keyboard.

The sony ericsson P910i isn't too bad either from the looks of things.

What bothers me about the P910i, is the small keyboard.I just wonder how one would type on it. With the Treo6x0, you can hold it in both hands and type with your thumbs; I'm not sure this works with the P910i... Also, the keyboard is a lot smaller.

It is a shame though that the Treo650 doesn't run Palm Garnet (6.0), but other than that it seems to have everything one could want (if the SD slot is SDIO: there are rumours that the Palm Wifi card won't work in it).

As for the SPV M2000, I'm not sure about its availability here...

I've read typing works the same in the p910i - the have apparently reinforced the hinge so it can support the whole phone while you type and hold it.

One should hold the phone by the flip?
That hardly seems comfortable to me...

About the Treo devices: can you send and receive faxes with it? This functionality is quite important to me... I know it can be done with most Series60 phones; and perhaps with the P910i...

With regards to the treo. I guess that there is some Palm OS app. to do it.

Hmm, looks like it is disabled on the Sony Ericsson Px00 series... Also, some new Nokia Series 60 seems to have the internal fax switched off:

There also is a thread on My-symbian by the author of MobileFax - which adds sending/receiving faxes to a Series 60 mobile - stating that Nokia seems to turn it off in many new mobiles:

As for the Treo: I have searched, but not found anything...

Guess my dreamphone is still a way off:
                      a smartphone which can
                      • send/receive emails (using IMAP/S mailboxes!)
                      • send/receive faxes
                      • has IR and bluetooth (wifi ?)
                      • has a compact keyboard
                      • open platform for applications (symbian, Palm, ...)

The current alternative would be to combine my Psion 5mx with a phone, but that is hardly compact. The 6260 still seems like the best compromise (it fulfills all but the wifi and the 4th)... Combination with my Psion yields the 4th (hopefully, otherwise there are bluetooth keyboards).

Cool link. It narrowed my results down to the T600 ant two Mobile Windows handhelds. Both were a lot bigger than my treo tho.

Awful, awful res? It's not that bad, dude. It's about as "jaggy" as a 17" 800x600 LCD.

I don't know about you, but that's pretty jaggy to me...Plus, having OS5 in 160x160 means some apps don't work. It's a very nice device, just kinda dated at the moment...the 650 is pretty much perfect, though
