  • change the language of an installed XP system

    Hello,

Is it possible to change the language of an installed XP system?
We have a Dutch system here that we would have to reconfigure in English. Are there language packs or so available?
(we have licences for both languages, and installation CDs for them)

I suppose if you're pushed you could always try using the English XP CD and doing a repair install. I've never done anything like that before so can't really tell you of the outcome.

How can I acquire Windows MUI?
The Windows XP/2000 MUI is sold only through Volume Licensing programs such as the Microsoft Open License Program (MOLP / Open), Select, and Enterprise agreement (or with a new computer as an OEM version at customer request). It is not available through retail channels.
If your company has an MSDN account, you should be able to grab it off the MSDN download center. Otherwise you'll have to get a copy of WinXP MUI from you MS rep.

Or buy an oem version with a small HDD. Cheaper than Volume Licensing...

In my institute we installed the English version of XP and changed the user interface to German with one of the language packs. It is also possible to have French and Chinese in the same way. The installed system stays English though. Only the interface was changed.

Depends on the volume license agreement. If it's a pure site license they may get it free of charge. I know my company would, but we have a site license for tens of thousands of MS OS's.

Well, we do have a volume license, but administration here is terrible , so getting hold of it will be the issue. I guess it's easier to just reinstall the system...

                check: http://www.neotechcc.org/downloads.htm

XP Key viewer and how to change the key.

You could use one to view the actual Volume License key, then use any oem cd you have and reinstall the Volume key.
