I guess it comes down to how much Intel will raise Dell's prices if they decide to diversify.Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

I can see the corporates asking for some AMD fairly soon, unless Intel can get their x86-64 chips out the door before WinXP for x86-64 comes out of beta.Lady, people aren't chocolates. Tech support of course is a big concern. At the moment it's very poor.

I wouldn't buy a Dell system regardless of the processor.
Oh and incidently Dell did have some specially configured AMD based servers that they made up special for some customers a little while back. It was kept a secret and not made public so they keep Intel happy.

It will be a while before AMD breaks in. It will take a few big lost contracts to people selling AMD business machines, like Compaq, before Dell will switch over.

I expect Dell to sell AMD based systems any time soon if ever, but if ever they do, i would buy if they have the following,
1.) Use OEM mainboards instead of their own (HP uses Asus boards in some models, saw MSI boards in some Dell Systems)
2.) Use a standard Power Supply instead of their own as they do sometimes
This would allow me to upgrade later, and their casings are not bad actually!Life is a bed of roses. Everyone else sees the roses, you are the one being gored by the thorns.
