I'm sticking with my CRTs for another year I think. Prices are still just a little too high for my liking.

I also don't like the fact that all the 19" LCDs are using the 5:4 ratio 1280x1024. I want my monitor to have a proper 4:3 ratio. Some really high end screens do 1600x1200, but I just want 1280x960!

Hmm odd, I only see it listed on some german and eurpoean sites. Its not even listed on Hyundai's ImageQuest company product page.

              Shame they don't do a 20 inch.

agallag: The monitors themselves are also 5:4 though, so the pixels are square!

8ms! That puts my one to shame my Samsung 193P is 25ms I think.

Pixel pitch is still too high. I also want 4:3 or 16:10 ratio. I hate 5:4; it will distort bitmapped images and pics done at 4:3.
I agree, another year and things may change radically. Saw some really nice, up-and-coming white LED-backlit LCDs, as well as some really nice CRTs at SIGGRAPH this year. Death of CRT predicted, but not for a while.

I'm wondering if thats 8ms typical, and therefore what the max response time is. I've seen plenty of LCDs that have a max 3x that of the typical response time.

Mcollector: bitmap images and 4:3 images would NOT be distorted. Read my post 2 above yours.

Oh, And rylan, no LCD manages even 16 ms in reality, especially when it's not full black to white, but rather gray to gray.

Yeah, you'd think the mid level transitions would be improved more by now. The best I've seen is some overdriving compensation to get the response times uniform across brightness levels, but then its still around 20ms. Of course the smaller lcds are faster, but who wants a little 15" panel

Samsung is coming out with a new CRT technology that is only 13 inches deep and apperantly will be affordable.

The biggest size will be 34".

                              We'll see how that goes.
