• Cheap computer store in NYC offering IBM Thinkpads?

Hi!

I'm next week in NYC and I'm currently looking for a new notebook (IBM Thinkpad X31).

I've looked at newegg.com, amazon.com and compusa.com so far.
Only amazon offers what I look for.

Has anybody another tip?
A local shop or another company like newegg/amazon?

Many thanks!

you did have a look at nofost.de, did you?
if you know a student, this could be one of the cheapest options (without warranty-problems).

I'm a student.
Yes, I've also looked at nofost.de, notebooksguenstiger.de and notebooksbilliger.de!

When I choose the 1.4 GHz Pentium M I can still save at least 250 EUR.
Warrenty is not really a problem.

OT: great moniker, magog. Also interesting that someone else still plays with OS/2!

It works great, so why not use it. No worms no virus threat and hardware support is still not that bad (well you can't use *everything* but if you look before you buy something, there is no trouble).
Well and I'm also a hardcore user.

Last year Warpstock US (San Francisco) this year Warpstock Europe (Arnhem, Netherland - just 2.5 hours by car from my home).

Ok, back on topic:
Has no one a nice tip for a hardware seller in NYC?

Maybe I should really consider to change to an X40 then.
I can save 550 EUR (-256 MB RAM) when I buy it from newegg.com!

eBay.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

You could try J&R, but I 'm not sure if they have what you're looking for. I ordered my Thinkpad from IBM.

Many thanks for the suggestions, but so far it still doesn't look good.
eBay is not the right choice if you are only 8 days in the US.

On mondy I'll have a look.
