It's running SETI not Climate Prediction. I've been on the SETI team.

Can't days or weeks of work be lost if a machine crashes or has to be reformatted for Climate Prediction?

Uhm, credits? no. Work? Yes, if a model crashes then you will not be able to finish it I guess. But you will have uploaded intermediate results as you upload each 1/72nd step of a model. Even if a model is not finished, the uploaded data is still valuable to them, or so I read in the forum. I guess this holds especially true for completed phases (=24 tricks).

And it's really the model or BOINC that must crash one way or the other. In case of a reformat, a backup and resotre of the BOINC files should do (and I am so certain of that that I am holdojg of upgrading to boinc 4.13 until a model is done).

Have you upgraded to 4.13 ? How? Any benefits/downsides (speedwise) ?
