    Dudes

    I need to show a dialg box automatically, would like to set the properties for it but apparently they can't be set.

    Dialog I would like to show is External Data Properties.

    If I add the following;

    Application.Dialogs(xlDialogFilterAdvanced).Show or
    Application.Dialogs(xlDialogOpen).Show

    I get what I expect, the Filter or Open dialog so things are working but If I try to open the External Data Properties Dialog with the below I get a runtime 1004 error and show class for dialog failed.

    Application.Dialogs(xlDialogExternalDataProperties ).Show

    Anyone have any ideas.

    Using Excel 2003

    Hmmm not in a work mood so not bursting with an answer... I have experienced similar though with certain parts of excel seemingly randomly not accessible through the normal methods in VBA... so what I am saying is that it could actually not be possible.

      Excel is eVil! Burn your copy is a pagan-like ritualistic dance while mostly naked with a live chicken sacrifice to ward off the demons of the eVil spreadsheet god!

        I've never had to use that dialog before. Have you tried the record macro feature? Maybe there's some setup code like showing a certain command bar or entering a certain mode that you need to do before you can show that dialog. If you go through the process with the macro recorder, you'll be able to see everything that excel does and be able to mimic it yourself.
        P.S. You've been Spanked!

          My biggest beef with Excel is that it doesn't follow standard clipboard conventions.

            Starting to think it isn't possible as well Gnep.

            schmosef, I tried recording first, doesn't capture anything, I'll have a more thorough attempt tomorrow, might get lucky, it is new years eve.

            I might get to burn my copy of Excel soon, come on Directors, see the light, until then stuck with Excel.
