I want one. Would be nice if it could be expanded vertically by sitting it on top of another similar styled box conatining a digital tv tuner, high quality audio and video capture, ( maybe another harddisk.
The firewire could be used for this I guess!!
On another note - has anyone noticed onthe bottom of the page

oh and you don't need to open a browser to use it
So it's exactly like windows then...

Windows automatic updates are fairly painless, and you don't need to open a browser to use it. How's that different from your statement?

1) even manual update doesn't require a browser.
2) osx update covers all the apple installed packages.
3) it will install all updates, not make you update only update a then update b,c,d oh and you need a reboot before update e

Just because you don't see the browser opening doesn't make it disappear. It's still running an update through IE.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
1) What does the tool used to download updates manually have to do with anything?
2) Windows automatic updates covers all the default microsoft installed packages.
3) All critical security updates are downloaded and installed at once, in the background. One reboot later, and you're good to go.

1)as wombat pointed out - it still uses the browser
2) update also includes extras like iLife, ipod updates - without having to shop around to get them
3) ALL PACKAGES are downloaded at once
but until you play properly with osx, you really just won't understand what I mean.
To be fair, Windows Update also updates the bundled Windows equivalents of the iLife apps, but for beyond that it falls short of what is available under Mac OS X, which will update applications system-wide. The difference is that Windows Update was an after thought rather than an integrated part of the OS.
One nice thing with OS X's update utility is that you don't have to worry about those updates that can only be installed by themselves.
Oh and it is automatic (if you so choose) as well, just to clear that bit up.

I am really thinking about whether to persuade my parents they need this (and I buy it for them and play with it before ) - their PC is infected by all sorts of spyware and pron dialers, shows 2 errors on bootup and recently didn't have enough free HD space to install Opera! (which they are now using ) They are very computer illiterate, and they seem unable to learn. Is there any remote login software for macs I could use to help them (They live in Berlin, I live in Bielefeld)?
Truts us agallag osxupdate is better than windows update and you can even hide updates you don't want (e.g. airport, ipod updates, etc).
The Mac Mine looks very nice altough it could have been better if it had gigabit ethernet and bluetooth (it's optional upgrade atm). Also only 256Mb of ram which is not enough for osx, 512Mb of ram would give a much better user experience. I'm tempted to buy one but I'm gonna wait for the successor which will certainly come.
