    Nice!

Probably gonna have to watercool this board.

A shame that I've got my eye on something else already. (K8WEX)

It's a shame that it only has one PCI slot.

Need a minimum of two these days to create a powerful NLE system.

Any hardcore gamer that would drop the cash for a dual Opertron, SLI video card rig don't need no stink'n PCI slots. May one for an upgraded audio solution, but beyond that, no need for more.

You are right regarding the avid hard core gamer, but for a hardcore editor you will need a PCI slot for the NLE hardware like the RT.X100 or AXIO and you will most definitely need another PCI slot for a sourdcard becasue all the onboard audio to date suck!!

That and you might need to buy a SCSI RAID card to get sustanable data rates especially when editing HDV or pure HD. That's a total of three PCI slots right there.

So it looks like this motherboard is only targetted for gamers and not for serious work.

          Cheers,
          Elie

Definately a gamers board. (Look at Tyan K8WEX if you want a more professional board)

And they're gonna likely need to use water cooling, or turn up the sound a LOT to escape the sound of the fans being used. I'd say 60 degree minimum each CPU in such a cramped amount of space.

Uh, Cal, that IWill board is the old one. The K8W (what me and Maggi have) is what that board is matched up against. Not the K8WEX. The DK8ES from IWill is what's matched up against the Tyan K8WEX.

Well, from what I've seen (Quick comparrison).

                  K8WEX
                  2x AMD 940 sockets
                  8x DDR1 RAM sockets
2x 16x PCIe slots (Both at x16 in SLI, supposedly)
                  2x SATAII connection
                  1x PCIX 133
                  2x PCIX 100
                  1x PCI v2.3
                  USB2
                  Dual Gigabit connection
                  SCSI U320 Option

                  DK8ES
                  2x AMD 940 sockets
                  8x DDR1 RAM sockets
2x 16x PCIe sockets (one at 2x in SLI)
                  4x SATA connection
                  1x PCIX 133
                  2x PCIX 100
                  USB2
                  Dual Gigabit connection

If Tyan can deliver. Tyan wins hands down.

And with the release, it confirms that it does have the Dual PCIe at full x16 speeds, and RAID with the SATAII connections. (That's £360 out the bank already ) Now where's those Dual Core's gone to...?

Still waiting for a pciexpress based stacking system. E.g. Mini mac sized boxes that sit on top of eachother.

Nice, I hope they skip ddr2 and AMD go straight for FB-dimms or XDR as next memory technology.
