Deals dead already. No automatic 10% off. I was on the site earlier and saw the 2405FPW with the automatic 10% off. I am gonna wait for a really good sale on this monitor and jump on it. I just need to think of a REALLY good reason / excuse to feed the wife.

Well i'm gonna resist, and wait for some more players in the ~24" widescreen market...and for a new pc to go with it. just got this one!!!

My Iiyama is a bit small tho...but would need a new graphics card for the 2405FPW...my 6800GT doesn't fare too well at 1920x1200...15-16fps in 3dm05. havent tried any games yet, cos i cant find the CD's...

Just tried HL2, and it ran just fine with the 6800GT and 4xAA+8xAF @ 1920x1200.
averages in the 40-50fps range, with a few spikes, and a couple of hiccups too, but nothing major...

          Works tho...

currently running the 6800 at 400/850 due to a memory problem. namely a plastic washer that got stuck between the HS and the memory chips, which affected 2 pairs of chips not completely covered by the HS. So its higher core, lower memory than stock...

Does anyone know if one would need a "special" video card to be able to drive a 1920x1200 screen? Would a ~4 year old ATI AIW 9700Pro be able to handle this 24 inch WS LCD? I would hate to get this LCD and then find out I need to spend more $ to get a video card that can run (2D) at this resolution. I know the 9700Pro won't be running any modern at 1920x1200. But I primarily use my PC for 2D. Thanks.

Yes a 9700 Pro (which is not quite 3 years old) can handle 1920x1200. The newest drivers support AFAIK. Go post this question on rage3d.com. You will get a definitive answer within minutes usually.

                I think I can do 1920x1200 on my G400MAX, at 32bit 2D.

I can do it in 3D with perfect playability in UT2004 on my X800XT.

You actually play that somewhere. Haven't seen you on the MURC server, in like forever.

......not even in in the logs

well.. the hours I get on I see no one else there except your superbots, which are no fun to play against. I also play Severance and Primeval almost exclusively.

I decided to check for myself and found what I wanted on the ATI site. I guess next time I'll do a little checking for myself first before I go running off posting simplistic questions.

Should be able to haggle them down to £580 + Vat

What is annoying is the lack of HDCP. Do you guys think that on a PC it will actually be needed for playing back HD?

Yes, for any equipment bought after July 5, 2005 (new Fed rules).

EDIT: If you want the full scoop you will need to read the info in the links provided. If you want to just order the monitor, follow the instructions in the quote below.

OMG!!! You can get this monitor for $860!!!

                              Here is some info:

I just got a call back from Rao at Dell (4:45pm PST) after leaving him a message (3:00pm PST). He placed my order totaling $860 with FREE 2nd Day shipping and said it will be 7 to 8 days (possibly sooner) before it ships.

Call this number and use the provided extensions to speak with Rao (or leave him a message). He's the one that will process your payment--Brad couldn't do that for some reason. I think the deal ends today.
                              (800) 456 3355 ext. #7240141
                              Rao: ext. 6825

                              My order number: 262524210

ALSO: For those of you that don't already know this, you can split the $860 between two or even three different credit cards.
Here are some threads on it.

This is insane. I might have to go into debt to buy this.

Hmmm ... dual 23" and 24" WS DVI LCDs.

Wonder what the wife will say (sitting next to me).

If a deal looks to good to be true, then ...
