If a deal looks to good to be true, then ...
Except that it IS true as many people have already ordered the monitor for $860. People thought the deal would be done by now but if you talk to the right rep at Dell, they will still hook you up.
Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

Gotta head off to bed now, but ... How long is this deal good for? I don't have the room in the HT for another monitor but I could put it in my office for the old desktop machine; the 'ol 17" NEC 5FG is finally starting to show its age.

That's the problem, the deal was supposed to end a few days back but some reps continue to honor the deal, so you need to call the number posted above and hope it still works.

My Dad's interested in one of these now. He's a Mac user. Do you know if there's any compatibility problems with a Mac. I'm not sure what video cards he has in his machines (including iBook laptop) and he's about to buy yet another G4.

I'll look into this more later. Hope the deal's still available.

Here's the AVS thread on this monitor, including user feedback. There are many useful links in that thread.

Someone on AVS said EPP (Employee Purchase Plan) folks and Dell partners are getting this monitor for somewhere under $800.

Here's some good detailed user feedback on the display.

A Mac user has a site showing many pics, including the unopened shipping box (some people are very concerned on how things are shipped).

anyone know if a parhelia can drive one of these through DVI?
is a flower best picked in it's prime or greater withered away by time?
Talk about a dream, try to make it real.

no problem for a Parhelia, even P650 and P750 would do very well.
The only "consumer" monitor that cannot be driven by a Parhelia is the Apple 30" AFAIK
                  System : ASUS A8N SLI premium, Athlon 64X2 3800+, 2Gb, T7K500 320Gb SATAII, T7K250 250Gb SATAII, T7K250 250Gb ATA133, Nec ND-3520, Plextor PX130A, SB Audigy 2, Sapphire Radeon X800 GTO, 24" Dell 2407WFP.

                      Hi Paddy,
You could try ebay. Some of the US sellers with this product will ship to the UK. If you include delivery, it should be approx £600.

This is a Dell product (apparently made in China).

I haven't followed up on this since I posted all the info. Is this deal still being offered? I'll have to check the links when I get a chance. I didn't feel the need to jump on the purchase since it appeared that the price might have continued to drop in the short term.

I'm now thinking of setting up another HTPC with a HD tuner for the wife and this monitor would be used on that system. I already wanted to get a second HD tuner as a backup to mine since the Feds will soon be cracking down on the copy protection circuitry. I’ve got my HTPC tied up a lot of times with dubbing/editing work so it takes away from the wife being able to watch her shows. I also wanted a second tuner for networking record/playback of HD. The time seems ripe to go after this monitor now.
