yeah, I've heard good things about the dell monitors. Last exam is thursday night, so after that is when the real shopping starts
I think a friend of mine has a 19" Dell (not sure what model, I'll have to go check it out).
I think I've pretty much decided on it being 1280x1024 19" though, I like the res/size ratio.Q9450 + TRUE, G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2, GTX 560, ASUS X48, 1TB WD Black, Windows 7 64-bit, LG M2762D-PM 27" + 17" LG 1752TX, Corsair HX620, Antec P182, Logitech G5 (Blue)

1280*1024 on a 17" is too small. Very nice on a 19". I've been using this resolution on a couple of Sony SDM-S93B for a while now. I just got a Viewsonic VX910 (because I felt my Sony's were becoming "old"). It's very blueish. I changed the color temp to sRGB but then it disables the contrast/luminosity controls (and they're both over the top)...very nice screen otherwise (changes from the simpler look of the Sony's).

I run 1280 x 1024 on both my sony 17se11's - both are still very sharp and clear after 5 yrs of 8 hr days! ( they may take a little warming up, but I won't get rid of them till they die!)Yeah, well I'm gonna build my own lunar space lander! With blackjack aaaaannd Hookers! Actually, forget the space lander, and the blackjack. Ahhhh forget the whole thing!

Gonna check out the http://www.viewsonic.com/products/de...x924/index.htm
4ms 19" Viewsonic. I'll be able to get it for $585 + tax (CAD) in early May.Q9450 + TRUE, G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2, GTX 560, ASUS X48, 1TB WD Black, Windows 7 64-bit, LG M2762D-PM 27" + 17" LG 1752TX, Corsair HX620, Antec P182, Logitech G5 (Blue)

Funky
I'll get one when it's available...although the VX910 is absolutely fine for what I do with it...I'm bored with the screens I've got so far...maybe the VX924 will be good enough for watching DVDs?
I've just read a review on the VP191B that looks quite good, but the VX924 looks promising (AUO panel 8ms gray-gray). I wonder if it's a TN or MVA panel? Given the track record of AUO, I'd think it's an MVA though...

I was looking at that VP191b, it has a nice stand and whatnot, but I really do want that 4ms one.
As for that Dell - ??? it's a widescreen (wouldnt be able to run games in it's resolution [1680 x 1050] and only 12ms, which will very often go up to ~30ms while displaying certain colors which is comparable to roughly 33fps
To get a minimum of 60fps you need ~16ms or less, a value which even all (to the best of my knowledge) 8ms panels still go above.Q9450 + TRUE, G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2, GTX 560, ASUS X48, 1TB WD Black, Windows 7 64-bit, LG M2762D-PM 27" + 17" LG 1752TX, Corsair HX620, Antec P182, Logitech G5 (Blue)

A *minimum* of 60fps? How fast do you think you're going to push the data over the DVI connection? Probably 60Hz.Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

Exactly my point. In most games (all but Doom3 and FarCry) I get well over 60fps, and DVI will be 'pushing data' at 60Hz, but whats the point if the LCD can only play at 33fps? The 12ms panels (not sure about the 8ms) that I've played on simply are not good enough for some of the "twitch-shooters" I play.Q9450 + TRUE, G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2, GTX 560, ASUS X48, 1TB WD Black, Windows 7 64-bit, LG M2762D-PM 27" + 17" LG 1752TX, Corsair HX620, Antec P182, Logitech G5 (Blue)

I was like that for awhile too Kurt, but this monitor is going, my eyes are just getting worse staring at a damn CRT all day, and now that 4ms LCDs are out...
Advance Electronics is getting the new viewsonics in soon, hopefully next week, so I'll check em out, probably buy the 19" and put it to the test right awayQ9450 + TRUE, G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2, GTX 560, ASUS X48, 1TB WD Black, Windows 7 64-bit, LG M2762D-PM 27" + 17" LG 1752TX, Corsair HX620, Antec P182, Logitech G5 (Blue)

Still havent seen the VX924's yet, but another review did pop up http://www7.graphics.tomshardware.co...602/index.html
Not looking to good - has interesting response time issues, they did a good job explaining it in the review. The new Samsungs are starting to look like a good idea, particularily the 730B which I can get for 390 CAD (money is getting tight, dunno if I'll be able to afford a good 19" anymore )Q9450 + TRUE, G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2, GTX 560, ASUS X48, 1TB WD Black, Windows 7 64-bit, LG M2762D-PM 27" + 17" LG 1752TX, Corsair HX620, Antec P182, Logitech G5 (Blue)
