    XP64 is not ready for the mainstream. PLUS if you get the free upgrade to 64bit goodness, your 32bit XP key is disactivated.
    Me newish A64 3800+ will happily run XP or win2k (possibly 2k) for still some time...

      I have no problem with that as long as you have the option to test the software out for a week or so then the 32bit key gets deactivated. Is that the case you think?>

        it's a pain, but the best way to do it would be to install the eval edition and see how it goes. you then have 180 (or more?) days to see what it's like.

          So do any of you have a legitimate reason to move to a 64-bit platform? Why bother with the problems otherwise except that you just want to waste your time playing?

            That's a definite NO. If you apply for the free upgrade your 32bit key is deactivated. No grace period.

            The 180-day version is your friend here. Call up on your local MS branch and ask for the trial software.
