Conventional wisdom on changing MBs

    I switched to the generic IDE drivers, and pre-installed the INFs for the new motherboard and whatnot.

    It went off quite well, only had to install a few drivers on bootup. And I even went PATA->SATA!
    Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

        Now you can boot into safe mode and remove all the cr*p that's left from the previous install in the device manager...

          Don't even need to do that.
          Code:
          set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
          
          start devmgmt.msc
          Then View->Show Hidden Devices
