    General processing power question

    I'm assembling some old hardware for server. I'll be running windows 2000, apache, tomcat, some java stuff.
    I'm trying to decide on getting 2 x 733 or a 1 x 1G CPU. Which combination should give me better performance since i'm running all the server stuff ?

    Assuming the same amount of RAM for both systems, I believe the dual-CPU system would be your best bet.

      Unless you're expecting a really heavy load, go for the 1 x 1G. Especially since I'm assuming that it will have a faster memory bus.
      Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

        I have acquired the server with 1GB of ram already, but no CPU yet. So trying to decide on which CPU to buy.
