We all know about the possibilities of using a via eden system to make a car PC. But it always looks terrible...

I'll admit I don't know the first thing about cars in general. As nice as that unit looks, it also looks like it's twice the hight of the CD player I have in my car, meaning there is no way it's ever going to fit in my dash

      Or am I completely mistaken?
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

Many cars actually have room for units twice the height of a single car radio (car radio = DIN, the room is then double DIN). Under normal circumstances (i.e. if you have a regular car radio), the remainder is configured as a small open storage compartment. Is there perhaps such a compartment below your radio?

Of course, some car manufacturers seem to insist on installing their own systems, which often leads to problems if you want an aftermarket unit.

I would have room for it in my VW Polo, my parents in their Volvo 850, my brother in his Volvo V40, ...

Unfortunately, my car has two separate DIN slots.
