  • The King Is Dead, Long Live The King

I wonder if we'll have such socket again...5 years on the market. My first PC (well...basically I still use it...but from the old config there's only the case (without PSU), floppy and the graphics card (G400 :> ) left...) had the slowest processor available for it (Duron 600). And on top of it, the mobo which was there would run the fastest processor for the socket...(just at half the speed, without overclocking chipset).

Do you see the new king already?

Socket 939? It'll work with both A64's as well as dual cores.

*sniff* K7 you will be missed. Honestly it's hard to beat a solid $50 cpu a stable $50-80 motherboard.

Still working fine for me here. Wonder how many they made there as it is blanked out.

still running a socket A 1900+. I'm just glad the K7 got a worthy replacement, the Athlon 64 and X2.

Nah...it'll be replaced by socket M2 (940 pins) next year.
