It happened, Google Talk server is right now interoperating with any other open Jabber server on the planet, which means also that you can use Google Talk right now to talk with your ICQ/MSN/Yahoo/AOL/GG/whatever contacts.

I see that they're supporting open federation and everything, which is good, but how would that let me talk to "ICQ/MSN/Yahoo/AOL/GG/whatever" contacts?Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox

Simply by using transports...
(go read about them; in short: transports are server-side services and allow one to talk with contacts from other networks, they're really, REALLY, server side, meaning that ANY Jabber client will be able to "use" them - they're simply seen as another contacts; and before you'll ask - yes, you can use transports from other servers while using another one to login )
