Changed primary domain controller - Delay when adding a new user.

I just finished switching to a new domain controller. I had mentioned adding a second one somewhere else. The original was replaced.

There is a delay when adding a user. Originally I would get a warning about not having a global catalog. In "Active Directory Sites and Services", I checked the spot for setting the new global catalog and temporarily reocnnected the old primary domain controller. I let it sit for a couple of hours to make absolutely sure that this had replicated. I had plenty of other things to do anyway. It did. I then unchecked the option for the old primary domain controller and disconnect the original again. It works, but there is the a delay after clicking on finish. Should I leave the original one plugged in tonight to make sure that the setting takes an try again in the morning? Or is there something else that I should do?

The best part is one of the links tells of how to change FSMO the planned way and also how to "seize" control say if the associated DC fries itself.

It worked.

Now how to remove the "Primary" server from Active directory. Can it be done without reconnecting?

I had one weird problem. Believe it or not but having a mapped drive to a server that was no longer there would cause I.E. to take 23 to 30 seconds to start up. WTF!? Damn integrated fracking web browser!
