    Hey ppl,

I was gonna upgrade my comp now that my student loan has come through

erm being a student I dont wanna go too crazy

I was really interested in these sempron 64 chips, they seem like good bang for buck. My question is would I be better going for say a sempron 64 3400 over a athlon 64 3000? I've been looking at benchmarks and in-game perfomance appears to be better with the sempron. These two chips are also similiar in price, I'd also need a new mobo, gfx card and possibly some new faster memory. I current have a gig of 2600 memory ...

    Many thanks
    Andy

    I would go for the A64 3000+ using S939 (and i did ).
It's about the same price as the sempron64 3400+ but it's using the S939 and has a better memory controller built in.
Plus it's very easy to overclock the A64 3000+, i have clocked mine up from 1,8GHz to 2,25GHz (a 25% increase) without any problems. That said i have NO idea if the sempron is as easy to overlcock.
