Anyone with Windows 2003?

How's Server x64 working out for you so far? I'm going to have a chance to try it out in a month or two on some new quad Xeon boxes, and I'm wondering if you've run into any specific issues. If it goes well, we may put it on all of our domain controllers.

I tried XP x64 a while back, and while the OS looks nice and stable, some of my favourite utils don't work on it yet. Specifically, Daemon Tools. Maybe I'll give it another shot in October when they release version 4.

I've been running XP x64 for... uhh... a while. something like a year. The RTM build is pretty good - they did a good job. if you can get device driver it generally runs well.

no, Daemon Tools doesn't work. yes, they have had a 64bit clean version for at least a year. no, they have not released it... they have been "almost" ready with V4 for the whole time.

personally, i just said "screw it" and burnt discs. CD-R's are so cheap it's not even funny.

Server 2k3 SP1 is nice. XP x64 is running off of the 2k3 SP1 code base, so it is a fairly large step up from Windows XP in terms of core architecture. it is, very very nice. Longhorn Server is shaping up to be very nice as well... once they do some more bug hunting... hehe...

I've been meaning to grab a copy of longhorn server from MSDN. I've been too busy at work lately though. I did try out Vista, but it's a little early to judge that one.

We had a technology roadmap presentation from Microsoft a few weeks ago, and while I'm not allowed to talk about most of the upcoming stuff, suffice to say that there are quite a few cool features coming along in longhorn and blackcomb server.

Where do you work agallag? I've seen lots of internal MS presentations on Longhorn/Vista but never signed an NDA or even been asked not to talk about the features.

it is an implied part of getting access to such materials. if you are getting them through work, then they were given to the company with the understanding that the information is not fit for public consumption unless otherwise indicated.

that being said... this is a massive grey area right now because of the amount of info that MS is disclosing about Vista/Longhorn. they have published massive amounts of information on it through MSDN and TechNet that you do not have to sign an NDA to read, so....

You can look at it also the other way around By running win2k3, you basically have XP64bit without the need to buy have 64bit CPU and without shortcomings...

Anyway, issue solved, turned I don't need it very much for time beeing
So I'm free to install, since the feature isn't a priority...and check then.
