Smal upgrade....
Since my "new" Games system (XP3000+) did not work I will have to continue to use my "old" (Intel 865P P4 NW 1.8 @ 2.4+) and not move that to my work PC (use it as my work PC), I decided to upgrade my old work PC! Here is what I did/going to do!
Anything you would change?
Main use Photoshop / Dreamweawer, surfing, mp3, office, etc.
System drive: (C,D,E,F)
40GB Maxtor D740X UltraATA133 2MB Cache, 7200 RPM --->
160GB Maxtor DimondMax Plus 9 UltraATA133 8MB Cache, 7200 RPM
Realy made the system faster since the old drive was almost full!
Second drive: (G)
Maxtor D740X UltraATA133 2MB Cache, 7200 RPM
Thinking about changing to a Adaptec 1210SA SATA RAID controler
with 2 Maxtor DM+9 120GB SATA drives that I have lying
aroud in a RAID 1 config.
Would speed up Photoshop and also protect my data!
VGA
Matrox Millennium G450 32MB AGP4X --->
Matrox Millennium P650 64MB AGP8X
Well civ3 or solitare does not run any faster. A litle bit better IQ!
Have to test 10-bit GigaColor!
Would have gone for a P750 but did not want a active HS!
RAM
2x512MB DDR 333MHz CL2.5 --->
Tryed adding a Apacer 1024MB 400MHz CL3 module but came up with errors in mem test 3.2 same thing with an 512MB 333MHz CL2.5 module! :-( Will have to try a single sided 512MB mod othervise I will have to order 2 1024MB 333MHz modules!
