i checked orb and peeps were getting like 4.5k or something so im like 1/20 of the actual power.

So it's been lagging the moment you bought it? Even when you installed windows, or format the drive or boot to a cd or diskette?

What about temperature readings? Maybe the CPU is overheating?

When one of my PCs was running like crap it was the soundcard drivers? not that I think this is your problem.

Boot into safemode and test it again.

Have you tried running linux on it, just for the hell of it?

probably not exactly your problem but a friend had a slow system the other day, turned out his AV was doing a full scan from another user name (user hadn't logged off) but that didn't show under processes in his account. So, processes running as a different user for some reason?

If you are sure its not a virus...

I think you have one of those situations that may need a total windows re-install(you might find the cause eventually but in the long run it will be quicker just to format and reinstall windoze)

Though if your want to work it through, I would try pulling all hardware out except just the basics to boot windows to see if its a particular part, also disable everything you can get awy with in in the bios, if it still does it do a reinstall all drivers that you can.

PS What does it say in your event log for system and applicatons...anything weird?

                          Havent yet tried linux.
                          But im going to.
and then if cpu usage is still high as hell ill know its hardware related.

hmm...Just had an idea, how are your hardrives doing?. Do you have SMART tool that you could use to check the status of HDD's. Failing HDDs can cause odd behaviour like this

It would be helpful if you told us exactly what Epox motherboard you have.
