How do I turn off MS Office Clipboard and keep it off?
Would it be OK to stick a knife in it.
    And twist?
    And add gasoline?
    And set it on fire?

Can you tell I don't like the Office Clipboard?

The %$^**$%^&*@!^# thing won't die and stay dead.

The easiest way is probably OpenOffice.

At home that would be easy.
Here at work it is impossible.

Just uninstall it, I don't remember anymore how to turn it off because I never install it.

        Second: Dual PIII 1GHz | 21" Monitor | G200MMS + Quadro 2 Pro | 512MB ECC SDRAM | SCSI
        Third: Apple G4 450Mhz | 21" Monitor | Radeon 8500 | 1,5Gb SDRAM | SCSI

          1. Choose "Office Clipboard" from the "Edit" menu.
          2. Click on "Options".
          3. Uncheck these.

It will still run but it should not annoy you.

It doesn't appear to be an option in Office 2003

I may have tried this befor too.
                  Cant remember.

Of course, now that I have I have gone 3 hours without any C/P operations.
                  So I don't know yet.

Having that stupid thing open up with the last umpteen C/Ps I have done and cover up what I am working on just drives me crazy

                    Which version of Office?
The method is not the same for every version

                      Office Basic 2003.
                      It came with the computer.
Though we do have enough licenses of Pro that I could install that instead.

Under certain conditions it opens up a child window when you go to paste with a list of a bunch of your last items on the clipboard to choose from.

At least on my PC it does it seemingly at random, and the window is HUGE.
It almost always covers up whatever I am working on and I have to go to the mouse to close it.

I do a lot of cuting and pasting of large blocks of code from one tool to another.
It can really get in the way.

                          I just love "helpfull" features....

Sounds like it'd work even better if it had "Clippy" giving advice like:

It looks like you're trying to copy and paste some text, would you like to:
                            1. Paste some unrelated text you copied a few hours ago?
                            2. Paste some text that I have generated using patented Microsoft AU (Artificial Usefulness) algorithms?
                            3. Paste the text that you were originally copying when this dialog window popped up?

That there is an option to NOT install.
