Or, you can do what I do. If you own a linksys product, it likely has access restriction controls. I disable my kids ethernet port on the linksys at certain times and he knows it is time to get off. He can use it from 8-9pm on school nights and all day long on weekends until 10:30pm.
Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

I wonder how many kids would simply put PCI gfx card in

Hmm...actually, it should be possible to unplug AGP/PCIe card with this thing attached...

this product is not aimed at us murcers, but it might be useful for all those relatives you help with their pc's as something to help them outsmart their kids.

your assuming the kid has a pci video card laying around.

also if kid opens pc, kid looses pc rights, pretty damn simple.

                  ...i like this part

The PC Moderator's display dim feature helps to compensate for the negative biological effects of nighttime computer use.

Yes, it made me smile too!
Perhaps the display dims slowly, until the kid is looking at a black screen: "I can still make out the details!".

I wonder, does one really need a device like that to prevent kids from using a PC? I mean, wouldn't it be better to teach the kid discipline? Shutting down network access makes more sense, as the internet can be very addictive. I will admit, I have played on PC as a kid till late at night, but that was only when it was brand new (or when I had a new game, or had to isolate some malfunction). That is part of the fun, and doesn't hurt if it only happens on rare occasions...

Looks like a great way to break the VGA connector, what with the long solid metal case with a padlock on the end of it.

Down under, we used to have to put dollar coins in the lockbox for the power to turn on....

How about not putting a computer in the kids room so the parents can actually see what they are doing?

That would be too responsible and hands-on

I don't like the idea of gadgets like these. They make parents think they can get away without parenting and put a kink in the parent-child relationship.. no trust involved, no possibility for guilt when said trust is broken. The idea is dehumanizing and kids will resent parents on that basis, whether they can put this into words or not.
