      Miranda when I'm not lazy enough (configuration)...so that would be almost 2 years now
      Or Gaim more and more often...

      But usually I settle for some local "multicomunicator", which connects to Jabber, ICQ and one proprietary network...but it's in polish, so... (well, if you really want to see it: http://spik.wp.pl/ )

      BTW, http://www.bitlbee.org/ is an interesting "multicommuniator"..

        Tabbed chat windows are great though (I only use it for chats - msn and icq).
        Apparently Gaim 2.0 is due out soon, which should remedy teh video and file send issues.

        I don't like the tabbed interface though.

          English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

              I can understand that, I suppose. But I typically only rock about 2 at a time, and I have my windows close after I send a message, so it keeps the screen clear.

                If you need a nice comparison about the different messengers, look here:

                  I tried a few, but they mostly sucked.

                  Qnext seems really promising, but it needs more options.

                        IM2 sounds too good to be true

                        I haven't been messaging for a long time because the software was too slow/bloated/intrusive and security was poor.

                        Edit: for those trying IM2 and are having ICQ connectivity problems download the new oscar.dll file from this IM2 post;

                              Bitlbee or simply pure Jabber? Practically all runs on the server...and clients (many) can be setup to be as non-intrusive as you want.
