BTW, I wonder...any reasons why Nintendo has better compiler than Microsoft? Both have been backed in efforrst by IBM for sure...plus MS has extensive expernieces in the area. Why they would fvck something so badly and Nintendo - not?
At any rate, it's clear from the current crop of games that the XBox360 has programming issues. Games that ought to have FSAA and don't, have broken filtering, etc. There's a ton of problems that will likely be remedied with online patches... if they bother. The current crop of games looks no better than PC games, and that's a bit telling.
As for why Nintendo has a better compiler... they just have a better dev. kit, and are more supportive of their developers. Which is why they've always been easier to code for than the other systems (going back to SNES versus Genesis, which is where my original game coding experience comes from, although I don't remember when my NDA's expiration was I doubt anyone cares if I reminisce).
And MS f***ed themselves by switching to a non-PC core. Microsoft knows no more than anyone else about bizarre hardware, in fact they know LESS.The Internet - where men are men, women are men, and teenage girls are FBI agents!

About cores - because this was wondering about the possiblity that Xbox360 can be roughly as easy as Revolution to code (so...you're not using multiprocessing, assembler...) and still end up looking better (GFX and memory are still much more capable, one of 3 PPC cores, running at 3,2 can be assumed to be more powerful than PPC CPU running at 730, I guess...)
BTW, wasn't N64 a bitch, at least a little, to code for? (but I know only what Wikipedia does...)Last edited by Nowhere; 31 March 2006, 07:12.

well, yeah actually, might not be lowballed, cuz the CORE 360 is only $300
$150 USD would be sweet, but I think it will be ~200Q9450 + TRUE, G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2, GTX 560, ASUS X48, 1TB WD Black, Windows 7 64-bit, LG M2762D-PM 27" + 17" LG 1752TX, Corsair HX620, Antec P182, Logitech G5 (Blue)

Hmmm...might have a chance here if it'll be around 150, or even 200. Because I think PS3 will not be very strong in markets as the local one, at least initially. OTOH Revolution and Xbox360 will use DVD, so that means easy and cheap piracy...and anyway companies behind them don't care. Why should they, if they don't earn that much...
