  • calibrate the logon screen of a tablet pc

    Hello,

I recently purchased a tablet PC (Fujitsu-Siemens P1510). When it arrived, the digitizer was in dire need of calibration (it was nearly 2 cm of the mark in the top of the screen). This of course is not a problem: just run the supplied calibration software and calibrate it.

But how does one calibrate the logon screen?
(it is also 2 cm off at some points, making the onscreen keyboard or even user selection hard to use)

I have tried calibrating the 'administrator' account, but it didn't help. I have also tried the Microsoft tweakUI (one of the XP Powertoys): it allows one to copy mouse/keyboard settings from an account to the log on screen, but it didn't copy the calibration of the digitizer...

    Any thoughts?

Assuming you have calibration settings loaded by a program in Startup at logon, can you get that program to run as a service instead? Just guessing though.

I can't seem to identify the service that takes care of the calibration. The tool appears to be a Microsoft one...

I wonder if the calibration is perhaps not stored in the registry. (the tweakui tool can copy mouse speed and so on to the logon screen....)

my assumption would be it's resolution specific. Is the logon screen running at 640x480 or 800x600? A quick way to check is just change your windows screen and if those are off calibrate all the basic resolutions.

          Great thinking!
          The native resolution is 1024x600.

I just tested, and the logon screen is much more off in the corners than in the center. But if I change to 800x600, the display isn't stretched. Judging by the fact that the logon screen fills the native resolution, and the quality on the logon screen, I would say it is also in 1024x600...

A change in resolution was my first thought, but then I decided that I notice a difference in size before/after adding display drivers during OS installation so it was probably set to desktop resolution.
