XP task manager tray icon

For anyone else who has ever had the problem where the tray icon for the task manager shows up only intermittently, I've found out what causes it: Setting the processor scheduling to "Background processes." More specifically, setting Win32PrioritySeparation to use fixed-length intervals, and to a lesser extent, using longer intervals causes the icon to sometimes not show up. Makes me wonder what other wierd effects those settings might have...
