  • Norton AV Server problems...

Back last week at my job, we went to try and update NAV Server then push out the updates to the work stations. The server updated fine, but it only pushed out the updates to two workstations on our network. We fuzzed around with it for a bit, but still couldn't get it to work. We thought it might have been cause by our changing of IP addresses across the network, so we decided to reinstall Norton on the Server to see if that would help and well it didn't. So we finally said screw it and wiped it out and did a full reinstall.

I got the server up and running again this morning and updated with the latest update from Symantec, but I'm still running into where Norton can't find any of the workstations on our network, even though they show up in Network Neighborhood and I can ping them from the server. The only thing that shows under Norton System Center is the server itself and Ive tried running search using IP address, but it doesnt turn up anything. Keep in mind that the clients are already running client of NAV if that makes any differance. I also believe that the NAV Server we are using is something like NAV 2001 or 2002.
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

Were the clients installed as "managed"?

I'm not sure if you can switch from "unmanaged" to "managed" after the client has been installed. At the very least, I would guess that you need to change a config setting on the client.
        P.S. You've been Spanked!

As per schmosef, if you've reinstalled it on the server then you'll have to reinstall it on the clients too so they re-associate themselves
When you own your own business you only have to work half a day. You can do anything you want with the other twelve hours.
