Aren't 17" notebooks almost A3 size? Nice for when all you do is commute by car between home and office, but other than that, too large, IMHO.

Yeah, a 17'' laptop would be a lot of fun in an Economy-class airline seat...I think it would be fine on modern trains & such, though. My current 15.4'' DELL weighs more than this MacBook and it's still manageable...depends how much you're willing to lug around on your back, I guess. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

I went in and played with one tuesday night.
I spend all of my time commuting by train, either local to the office, or shinkansen to customers.
It's honestly not that large for what it can do, and as I end up doing software compiles, data transforms etc at customers as well as in the office, order will go in on monday for 17" with 7200rpm 100GB drive

My brother has a 17" widescreen laptop, but for him it is a desktop replacement. At work, we have a number of 15"+ laptops, and people are just reluctant to take one of those with them (once they wheigh over 3-4 kg, people seem to perceive them as too heavy). But that doens't mean there isn't a market.
I on the other hand have a 8.9", <1kg portable, and while the screen is small, it is easy to carry.
I guess it all depends on the needs...
(where are those foldup-e-ink-screens when you need them? )
