  • Ouch Dell GX270

We know there was a problem but after the mini heatwave a week or so ago 30 of our gx270s have expired and are going at about 5 a week. The capacitor must be made from popcorn.

Good job for 3yr next day support.

Bad job for Dell as the gx270s are up for replacement in August.

We've had a lot of GX270 failures, too. But the caps blew because our retail stores were overloaded on USB devices.

We have had significant issues with GX270s as well. Lots of bad Caps.

There are something like 3 versions of the GX270...The largest takes a standard half-height CD-ROM: these are the oldest machines. Then you have newer GX270s which have the smaller chassis very similar to the GX260 but no SATA - they accomodate a laptop style CD-ROM: these are the ones we are having problems with the most; we've also seen overheating problems, but I think that is more of a placement/mounting issue than a problem with the PC.

The SATA GX270s are fairly trouble-free.

The GX520s are rattle traps. Their side panels do not seem to fit very well.
