frankly, I don't see how this helps AMD much, nor ATI...
There's about zero synergy advantage as they focus on completely different markets (especially after AMD left the chipset market). AMD already had integrated graphics available for their platform through nVidia's and ATI's offerings.
I doubt an unified AMD & ATI will be able to focus as much on the markets to compete with nVidia and Intel as their separate corporate entities would.
And how well will AMD financially cope, when they need to fork out a lot of cash for this acquisition, especially when Intel launched a full attack with their Core Duo line of products.Comment
