  • Windows Live Messenger doesn't save login

Well, like the thread title already says - my Windows Live Messenger doesn't save my login data (e-mail address and password). It doesn't matter whether I check "save..." or not. The problem occured after an un-planned system restore. I even uninstalled the Live Messenger, downloaded it again and re-installed it. Any ideas?

Registry entries not being present or changed that were before. Check for that and the permissions as well.

Or rip it out, clean as best you can and reinstall.

    System Restore is bad Mmmkay.

Thanks, I'll try that! There's one setting called "StoreMemberReplicationStatus" which has the value 0 in my registry. Do you think I should set that value to 1 or does this key mean something totally different?

No idea. I have only ever used "Just Another Jabber Client". Given issues that I have had with even simple programs at work with security and also friends that have not known better about system restore and others of it's ilk would point towards this. Unfortunately, this has to be figured out for each individual program. Just uninstall, clean out any registry entries that you feel good about removing related to the live messenger and then reinstall. It's simpler usually.

I uninstalled Windows Live Messenger again, removed all registry entries, downloaded the file and installed it again - to no avail
          Really strange...
