Since AMD hooked up with ATI, it only makes sense... maybe now Intel integrated graphics will suck less.

It's an interesting twist. AMD needs a better chipset, and while ATi makes a decent chipset, the nV chipsets are superior. So who does AMD buy? ATi.

Intel needs a better graphics solution, and has rock solid chipsets. ATi currently has superior graphics, and a wider range of graphics products, than nVidia. So Intel is rumored to buy nVidia.

          *shrug*

As long as the aquisitions translate into more competition and better prices, I'm all for it.

Now we have to wait for Cyrix to buy Matrox

Nahh....at this point Matrox, at least the display card division, deserves it

Has an acquisition ever increased competition and lowered prices before?

If so, I don't remember it

Its the wrong way around for me, I prefer Intel and ATi.

I think it is more important for mobile chipsets (phone / pda) etc. The synergy could be quite strong.
