Hi!
I deleted some important personal files by accident. They were in a folder on my desktop. After I put them in the trash I emptied it - big misstake!
Anyone out there with experience in recovering lost data? What kind of software should I use? My computer is a PowerBook G4 and I'm using OSX Tiger. FYI: I haven't used my computer at all since the "accident". I didn't want to risk overwriting the data I want to recover.
I've borrowed a friends computer to try and recover some data myself, but with little luck so far. I've tried using Data Rescue II, DiskWarrior and OfficeSalvage. DiskWarrior only seems to be for rebuilding the directory, and I don't need that. (Do I?) Data Rescue and OfficeSalvage does find files that have been deleted in the past, but all file names are gone and there's no way of seeing the original location of the file. Plus, if I choose to recover the files using those programs I can look forward to days of going through all the files - something I'd like to avoid if at all possible.
Suggestions anyone? Try some other software? Hand over my disk to a professional and pay $$$??
