Not sure when I'll actually be getting it, but it will be a Wii. Actually, and I find this rather cool, the wife is more than willing to fight the crowds to obtain one on Sunday“And, remember: there's no 'I' in 'irony'†~ Merlin Mann

You have to love the contrast between the Sony and Nintendo launch events in NY. Sony has all sorts of problems with crowd control and paid buyers, while Nintendo has people sitting around playing on the DS' and a Wii-rigged Segway. Sony unloads, in front of the media, truck loads of PS3 boxes which all turn out to be empty, while Nintendo actually has around 7,000 units on hand.
Engadget has some nice photos of the launch:
We're hanging out at Toys "R" Us Times Square this evening, getting all ready for a bazillion people to get their respective Wii on. As of 9PM the line is already mind boggling, but the word is Toys "R" Us is stocked with 5,000 7,000 of the dang things for the launch, so there are going to be a lot of people going home happy this evening. Keep watching this space for more of the action as it unfolds, and make sure to peep the pics after the break. UPDATE 1: New pics aplenty. Also, the scuttlebut on the street is that there are actually 7,000 of the little machines stashed away in Toys R Us, and from the looks of white wristband ubiquity (the wristband guarantees you a console tonight), nearly reaching all the way around a city block now, that could very well be correct. UPDATE 2: Tons more pics. Here's a map of the Wii line. That may not mean much to you non-New Yorkers, so let's put it in perspective. A short block is 1/8th a mile, while a long block is about 1/3rd a mile. So this line is the better part of 4/5ths a mile long. A little arithmetic... we'd estimate that's about 2,500 - 2,600 people or more. Good news for New Yorkers looking to buy a Wii tomorrow morning.UPDATE 3: Attention, folks, Reggie has been spotted. We love the big guy, and the very privilege of watching him play a bit of Wii Sports baseball has us shaking in our little blogger boots. He was upstairs at the Toys "R" Us Wii display, so we got some pics of that too, all of which can be spied after the break. One hour to go!“And, remember: there's no 'I' in 'irony'†~ Merlin Mann

I just got back from target and got a chance to see and play the PS3.
Befor I actually saw it or played a game I felt that the console was all hype and not worth the $$$.
I must say, I was blown away by the demo game I was playing. So much so, that I may wait and see what other games come out just to see if it is worth it?
The game I played was MotorStorm. Extremely real looking and very fun. I love racing games though and especially racing games that involve dirt Here is some screenshots:

Oh there's no doubt the PS3 is an impressive machine that could be home to some truly magnificent games. If the previous incarnations were anything to go by, the games will only get better as time goes on as well.
I just wonder if the cost of the PS3 will, over time, equate to an overall better experience than with say the 360. Somehow I doubt it.“And, remember: there's no 'I' in 'irony'†~ Merlin Mann

Its also a gamble for the Developers to take a chance on developing on new hardware, different from all their previous attempts (Multi-core).
This thing has 7 core active, they haven't had to go beyond one core for quite a while, and were happy there. Nice limits...
Whap, bang, Pentium D, A64 X2, COre DUo, COre2Duo, CoreQUad...Dual quad....
And CELL with 7 of 8 active cores.
Hmm, most of them must be having trouble with the large multithreaded nature of this chip, and that is why games are taking their time...
XBox360, easy peasy to program for...Thanks to Microsoft.
The first fiew "launch" games were probably helped by Sony in a big way, to get SOMETHING out of the door.
I see a small trickle of games to begin with, until a sweet easy authoring tool arrives for the PS3 developement crowd.
Then the floodgates will open, games will be abundant and if they're lucky, people will still be alive to see it. (ok, maybe a bit harsh.)
PS3 doesn't need a "Killer Game" It needs a "Killer Dev Tool".

I got my Wii Sat night @ 11:59, EST.
I must admit, the graphics look better when you play them in person, but obviously, it's still no xbox360/ps3.
I may pick up a ps3 or xbox360 in the future, and if so, I'm heavily leaning towards the xbox360. The PS3 has major issues, and I'm not super impressed with it just yet, especially for the extra $200 it costs.
