  • IE7 Question

Is it possible for each tab to NOT recycle session/browser instance?
    P.S. You've been Spanked!

Probably not. Do any browsers create separate sessions for each tab created within a single browser instance?

Well I know under OS X, none of the major browsers do (that'd be Safari, Firefox/Camino, and Opera), but I couldn't remember if the later two behaved the same under Windows.

Opera is, AFAIK, the only true MDI browser, and still doesn't do this. Even different windows from the same installation are the same task, technically.

Why do you want this, Schmo?

Just install a weekly of Opera, it's what I do. You can have as many separate installs as you want, as long as the version and path are different. (the mouse gestures are really ahem... "handy"... if you know what I mean. But there's also keyboard or voice control, for thediscerning ambidextrous autoeroticism artist )

I write web applications for a living.

I need to test the security and dynamic rendering of different user account/user group classifications.

I can't do this with tabs because the tabs all share the same account credentials.

I guess I just have to open multiple instances is IE7.

Yep, gotta be multiple instances. Although there might be a hack to make Opera do this, but I wish you the best of luck poring through their tech forums. EEEK!

AFAIK there is no hack to make Opera do this, you have to have separate installs, and I think they have to have different build numbers (which is hackable IIRC, but don't ask me how. Just using a weekly works well.).
