Looking for a 20-22" WS TFT to replace CRT...

Right, i'm decided.

I want to replace my 19" iiyama Vision Master CRT with a TFT.

I don't have the power for High Resolution gaming, and enjoy watching films and video, as well as playing games.

I'm looking at a 20-22" 1680x1050 screen.
I would really like a 24-bit panel, and do not want a 16-bit or 18-bit panel.

This will probably wait until the january sales, since i couldn't give a fart for xmas (for me).

I usually play with the maximum possible settings at 1280x960, no antialiasing, sometimes Anisotropic if it doesn't hurt the fluidity.

I am pretty sure that my MAIN PC will cope with 1680x1050, and it will also give me a chance to see what a DVD-backup in 1680x944 or 1680x708 will look like. @10Mbps DIvX. 32bit RGB.

Any suggestions ?

I've been thinking of getting the LG L204WT or a Samsung SyncMaster 205BW

What's keeping me away from the LF is that you can not adjust the brightness, or the height of the screen. And the Samsung seems to have a bit more limited viewing angle and more backlight bleeding...

The biggest problem with Samsung is huge disparity in quality from unit to unit.

There's something screwy with their manufacturing/QA process.

I've been selling Samsung for over 10 years now and often their screens are simply the best on the market. But when I sell several at once I can tell that unit to unit the quality delta is huge.

I have been looking around, and these are ones i've found:

NEC Multisync 20WGX² 20in and Fast. ~540 Euros
Samsung Syncmaster 215TW ~500 Euros
Viewsonic VX2245WM ~500 Euros
DELL 2007WFP ~520 euros

AS you can see the prices are pretty equal...

I don't mind 'glossy' panels, my CRT is pretty shiny anyway.

I just really really don't want any colour banding.
I will probably go and find these on display somewhere, and have a good look at them.

I will also be splashing out on a screen calibrator tool by LaCie, which is in fact a Gretag tool. The french site Hardware.fr swears by it, and I am inclined to believe them.

SO, out of these four (or any that you may consider better) does anyone have one, and can they comment on it ?
