    2300Gbs on one PC card

A research team at Keele University has
created a new memory system which, it claims,
can store 2,300Gbs on one PC card-sized
device. When units go into mass production,
they are expected to cost a mere £35 to make.

Mass production? Oh yes: unlike many great
British innovators before them, the Keele team actually seem to have a certain amount of business acumen. With their capital
    management company Cavendish Management
Resources (CMR) they have formed Keele High
Density to market and license their technology.

The system exploits the storage properties of a new family of alloys, but the team aren't saying any more than that until its various patents have been granted. Further development work will also need to be done before the system is ready for mass production, so don't expect to
see it in the shops soon.
