Shame about this:
No Windows Native App in 3D Space...
Although LG3D for Linux and Solaris includes support for running native applications within the LG3D desktop, this feature is not available for the Windows release. This means that it is not possible to run native Windows applications within LG3D. You can, however, develop and run and develop LG3D applications, such as the CD viewer and other LG3D Java applications. In other words, the Windows version is designed for experience LG3D and app development, but not for replacing Windows desktop.

That said, and while the vm can be sluggish at times, the newer vm's (1.5 and 1.6) are noticably more speedy.
Most of my customers are going from the VB based app to my Java app, and notice a reasonable speed improvement. Sadly the largest slow down I have with my app, is not java itself, but a data library that I can not get rid of at this time.Juu nin to iro
English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.
